How much freon should have been replaced in my A/C unit
I just had to replace the condenser coil on my Goodman GPH1460H41 because it was leaking freon. The invoice says that the technician recovered 10lbs of refrigerant and then installed 10lbs. I climbed up on the roof after they left and according to the data plate my unit has a regrigerant capacity of 12.5 lbs (200 oz). So what happened to the other 2.5 lbs? Is my unit full to capacity, or does it need to be recharged again?

Sure sounds strange. I would take it up with the installer and see what they have to say.

If this was a guessing game, and it was my turn to guess, I would say since it was stated that there was a leak, that 2.5 lbs of refrigerant had leaked out,the tech recovered the 10 lbs left, repaired the leak, returned the 10 lbs, but either failed to charge the owner for the 2.5 lbs, recharged the correct amount and included freon cost into total without itemizing,or just failed to add sufficient amount of refrigerant,, which should show up when rechecked for correct freon pressures
This is just my answer to the guessing game

And honestly, wmproop, one of the best answers to any question I have seen in a while. Guessing or not, that was awesome.
