Government supported programs to help the needy have continued since Roosevelt's time. Examples would be the government programs that help local economies and programs that provide health care for children. These programs are expensive and cost the citizens money in the form of taxes. Do you think that the government should still continue to help people in need or should people have to take care of themselves? Explain your answer.

Start by thinking of (or asking a parent) what public taxpayer supported programs you have used in your life so far, or theirs.

Give the poor means to support themselves and your statement has marit. Im poor because the best place I can work is walmart because I didn't get enough scholar ship money and didn't have rich parents and could not qualify for a loan when I was 18 in 1990--don't tell the poor to take care of themselves and then throw a bunch of brick in their path! For example I didn't get school loans because my parents didn't make enough and I didn't make enough so if you don't have money to begin with you will never have money.
