What country is this in? Usually a crown is put over a tooth that has been given a root canal. A crown is just a protective cover and does nothing for any disease underneath. Crowns are sometimes too high and ache when you chew because they are taking all the weight for all the other teeth.

Not all problems are seen on X ray, so you could have infection in the jaw, gum, or nerves. Is your gum sore at all, or does the pain feel way down in the jaw? Does the pain happen any time, or just from eating and drinking?

Doesn't master what country.. a crown us for a tooth with too much decay to have a standard filling. Crowns take time to settle in. as long as your bite isn't to high, which is checked with bite paper, it may just be a sensitive root. An x-Ray will say if the root looks good but sometimes there are things that wrong show up like air bubbles in the glue or very small fractures.. If you don't feel your dentist is doing everything they can go elsewhere...
