Old film about shadow forest monsters

I watched a film on TV years ago around 1995-2000 where people would go into a forest then be killed by these shadow things with red eyes that's all I can remember but has been bugging me for a long time :p

I can't for the life of me remember a film I watched as a kid, it was about a boy who had a passageway to where monsters came from and it was under his bed, I know it has monster something in the title. :confused:
