You can always apply for the passport.

But, if you were not born in Portugal, married to someone who is Portugeuse, or living there on a somewhat permanent basis, I am sorry to say the application will most likely be denied. Merely having a sibling who has the ability to get one, does not guarantee your getting one. Sorry.

Hi Sweetie, I you don't mind but I have been advised by the administrators to encourage people to post their follow up questions back on the boards so other people can see the outcome. The reasoning behind it is, if anyone else has a similar problem, they will be able to do a search and get their answer immediately instead of having to sit around waiting for a response. I hope this is okay with you.

I am copying this message and posting my reply under your original question. :)

If both your brothers have been successful reregistering their birthplace as Portugal, then it stands to reason, you should take this action as well. I do not know Portuguese Immigration and Naturalization laws, but usually countries do not give out passports to relatives other than a spouse or child, unless you are living and working there on some sort of regular basis. That might allow you some latitude in this situation.

The best solution is to speak to your brothers. They seem to have found out what the laws are there, and have found a way to get a passport. I believe they can advise you better than I.
