My 17 yo son will need tooth implants for his two, upper front teeth which he lost at age 10. One root is intact but the other had to be removed. He has had to wear a partial bridge all this time.

I'm being told different things regarding the age he should be to have the implants done. Some dentists say age 20 or 21 to allow for complete bone growth. Others are telling me he can receive the implants now which is better so his other teeth won't shift.

Can anyone shed some light on this difference of medical opinions?

I would question the decision of the professional for implants. Yes, they are correct in way, but I would have chosen permanent bridge work, just for that reason of teeth still shifting. I think you should seek other opinions before putting out the big dollars for implants when permanent bridge work would be more practical, just as attractive orally, and ease of maintenance.

I think all dentist are correct, at their point of view but You can take a help/suggestion from your family dentist or professional dentist.

Both point of views have correct facts, it is a matter of choice now. I would follow your dentists recommendations, since he knows the patients medical best
