    3 Year old not Urinating
I have a 3 year old daughter who is fully potty trained. Everything has been going fine up until a few weeks ago she went to the hospital for dehydration from a stomach virus. Ever since she got back she has been drinking OK and keeping liquids down, but urinating less and less. Now she just doesn't urinate much at all. She will go an entire day without getting on the toilet and I expect her to be ready to burst at that point, but when I finally force her to get up there all she gets out is a trickle. She is not complaining of any pain except in her stomach(which could also be hunger because she is a picky eater) she doesn't seem lethargic or sick in any other way. I can't understand why she is not getting anything out. Anyone else had any experience with this? Thanks.

Daniel, you need to get her back into the doctor to have this checked out. She could have a urinary tract infection, but I believe she may be dehydrating again. Has she had a fever recently (past few days) andy cold or flu symptoms?

She really should get checked out. Before you go, look at her lips, do they seem to be drying out? Look in her mouth, inside of the cheeks, are they pink and moist? If she cries are there a lot of tears or just a few?

These are just a few things to consider when considering dehydration that you as an untrained person can look for at home.

As the OP was February 9, and the OP has not come back. I am assuming they have solved the problem. I wish we had an update though.

If it was me I'd be at the hospital emergency asap. I'm leaning towards a urethral blockage/stenosis.

Looking again, I think J_9 might be closer to the issue-viral urethritis-although I'd expect some real pain/complaints from the child-ouch!

My child is 3 1/2 yesterday he slept a total of 20 hours out of 24. Took him to dr this was why he had been out of bed 3 hours he would not eat anything, and did not drink but maybe one ounce of apple juice. He seemed hot but no temp. Took to quick care seating all his vitals were okay, no temp. checked for flu and strep nothing came back. We were there for 3 hours and he slept the entire time only rousing when staff came in exam room. He felt very hot the entire time. Dr was concerned that he was so lethargic and hot without temp. She sent us home with nothing. But she did say if it was her child she would take him to er for more testing if he did not rouse soon. After 2 more hours of him sleeping took him to a er. The er was over flowing with flu patients. We seat there for over 7 hours and never seen a dr. Brought my baby boy home. He roused for the care ride home and stayed away till bed time maybe and other hour. Going to call his pediatric dr today. This does not make any sense and can not find anything o n web.
