Golden retriever acting abnormal
I have a golden retriver which is about 10 years old, it all started about a week ago when he stopped I guess responding, we would let him outside and he would just stand there looking from the back of the yard as we called his name (he was a dog that never liked to go out) but now he stands by the door all the time but not on the right side of the door to get out, he will walk in to a table, wall, etc like there not there, he fell over one day, his front paw is like "limp" but he still can walk on it, he was a very playful dog a week ago and now you touch him and he'll growl and show teeth ready to bit, I know we just got a puppy so I thought it was attention deprivation but you pay attention to him and he still acts like that until you have "human" food or start to play ball with the other dogs, or if you say walk he's happy. Does anyone have any clue of what's going on with him? We want to bring him to a vet but that's going to cost more then a human walking in to the ER please get back to me as soon as possible.

Chances are, even if somebody here could put the symptoms together, you would still need the vet for the cure. I don't like that running into the table at all. He could have lost his sight. It may be reversible if you act promptly. I am not sure what you mean on the cost. My vet charges $35 for a regular office call.

thanks I mean how much it would be for blood work, x-ray etc, but I got an appointment for a vet today thanks

It is possible that it may not be anything that requires extensive tests. Just after she turned 12, one morning my Lab, Aster, suddenly was listless and didn't eat. I think not eating is a serious sign with Goldens too. The vet needed no more than a thermometer and a stethoscope to decide she had pneumonia. I think I got out of there with enough antibiotics to clear it up for about $60.
I am afraid if it takes a complete work up it could be hundreds. |
