Who claims child @ tax time?
My ex and I have joint custody of my 12 year old daughter.

I have her every other weekend and half summer & Christmas vacation.

Both of us are married w/ other children, I have another daughter (1) and she has two boys (newborn and 3).

What is the proper way to claim our daughter at tax time?

BTW, I pay child support and we live in Los Angeles, CA.

    Thanks.

You claim her one year and she claims her the next. That's the only way I have ever seen it done.

The rule of thumb is whoever supplies more that 50% of her support gets the deduction. In many cases, the divorce agreement stipulates. Alternating years is a common practice.
