    Garnish Florida laws?
I'm 71 years old retired lost my job 3 years a go.My only earnings is my social security check of
$991. I'm paying a mortgage in a house that I own and I have a car that worth around $3000. The only
Bank account that I have is to recive the social security check only. I recive a summons from a credit card
Agency close to $20,000. I don't have the money to pay thah amount. Im thinking not to response to the summons
Because I have nothing to loose.
Can you give me your advise?
    Thanks

You do have something to loose so you must respond. First tell us if this debt is real and belongs to you. How long ago did you make your last payment? Was the summons actually from the credit card company or someone else like a lawyer or collection agency.

If you fail to respond, they will get a default judgment against you and will be able to levy on your bank account. It's possible that they can take this, despite the fact that the money comes from your exempt Social Security.

That's why it is important to answer all of the questions asked by ballengerb1. Those questions are designed to determine if there are any defenses to the lawsuit which you can assert.
