My york heating system

I have a gas hot air system the system does not fire up but when the light for heat comes on it shuts off I get no fire all so on the emergancy heat swich it does not fire I get nothing what can be wrong

When considering converting from forced hot air to baseboard heat, is it possible to just add piping / water boiler / baseboards and do nothing with the forced hot air system (use it for AC) ?
