    Government service
    Hi,

I am a Danish citizen and I am in the US on a J-1 visa doing a postdoc at Harvard University. I have been here long enough to become a "resident for tax purposes". I am currently being paid by the Danish Government and the money is deposited directly to my Danish bank account. It does not go through Harvard University and I will not be issued a W-2 form. However I am not imployed by the Danish government either. Could you please tell me whether you think I am doing "government service" according to article 19 of the associated tax treaty? In that case I can use article 1, paragraph 5 to claim tax treaty benefits.

    Best,
    T.
