    Sulfameth/tmp safe
I am 25 weeks pregnant and was wondering if this was a safe antibiotic for me to take for a uti. I read the paper that the pharmacist give you and it says not to take after 38 weeks.. I don't want to take it for fear of harming my baby..

A Physician knowing you are pregnant prescribed it; the Pharmacist knows you are pregnant and filled the prescription. I'd believe the two of them.

It is obviously better to take nothing; however, you could be in a very bad spot if you don't get the UTI under control.

I'd take the medication and believe the Doctor and Pharmacist know what they are talking about.

If you DON'T trust either one of them, I'd find a new Physician and a new Pharmacist. (My late husband was, in fact, a Doctor of Pharmacy. I am familiar with the guidelines they follow.)
