The handle (only) on my toilet shutoff cracked, and won't work to turn the water off. My hands aren't strong enough to hold it on tightly. I went to the hardware store to buy a new one, but they said I could only buy a new valve mechanism. I don't need that, and don't want to do that much work when all that is necessary is a new handle. Would a plumbing supply place have just the part I need?

I also have a bathroom sink that has a much smaller drain opening than the standard. I can't find a replacement stopper that plugs the drain (the stopper that goes up and down when the other gizmo is pushed up and down) as well as allows water to drain, but keeps other stuff from going down . The previous owner lost one. She had a toothpaste cap stuck in the drain! I don't want that. I have a rubber stopper, but that won't let the water drain. I can't even find a "teaball" strainer that will fit down inside the drain. It appears to be less than an inch as a 1-1/32" was too large.

You will need to purchase a new stop. Just make sure it is exactly the same brand and simply swap out handles. They don't sell just the handles that I know of.

As for the strainer, just go to a different hardware store, they should have a variety of sizes for drop in strainers and plugs.

I don't think you can purchase handle only. The entire valve is about $7.00. Buy new valve and either replace the whole valve or remove the handle only and use it on old valve. Toss the rest. Hope that helps. Milo

The other experts are correct. Buy the valve and swap the handle.
As far as your stopper goes why not do the job right and install a new pop-up? (see image) Good luck, Tom
