My 92 Honda Accord will not start when it gets hot outside.
When the temp outside gets warm 70 and above my honda will not start. You have to crank and crank and then finally it will fire up. I was told my fuel pump is going bad and the temp is cozing pressure to build and the fuel pump will not engage is this true and should I replace the fuel pump or look in another direction? Please help before I spend a lot of money on my little rice rocket!

I have encountered this problem before and it was the fuel pump relay. Can you hear the fuel pump energize when you turn the key on before starting the car? If you can hear it, then it's probably not the pump or the relay but it could be ignition related.

Honda fuel pumps are very reliable--if you can hear it run, it's likely fine. The problem is often caused, instead, by the main relay. Cold solder joints on the PCB separate, when the ambient temperature warms up. Either replace or try resoldering the joints. If the problem persists, replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil inside the distributor.

Your ignition coil is bad and replace 02-sensor. Yor fuel pump going out is money out of your pocket. If you keep cranking your car you will burn out your electronic ignition. If your fuel pump goes out in 70 degree weather don't believe it these cars are shipped to mexico and central america and have little problems. These cars were made to be used at moderate speeds and last long. If you are a street racer then you deserve this, but if you are not you have an 8 on a 10 scale. [email protected]
