Hi, I have a 27" Panasonic tube TV which turned itself off and will not turn on
I took the back off and took some pictures of the circuit board and notice some brown spots on solder connection.
I'm fairly handy with a soldering iron and could replace components that need replacing but I'm wondering if it is worth it. I have a Fluke meter with capacitance test function so I can test some of the capacitors but I'm wondering if the high voltage converter is shot. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if it's worth it or not and whether I'm on the right track?

Am surprised you haven't given yourself a good zap messing around with a TV. Best to chuck it and get an LCD flat panel. You are way behind the times with a tube TV and if it has shut off and won't come back on chances are there is somethingmore wrong other than the burned marks under the diodes or capacitors. Don't fool around with this unit any more as you could get seriously electrocuted!! Even seasoned TV repair people don't just fool around with a TV set unless they have properly discharged the high voltage area first. You, my friend, are very lucky, very lucky indeed. Quit while you are ahead.

Evil "queen" killed in tube. [ 2 Answers ]

Years ago I saw part of a movie where this evil Queen/Witch/Sorceress is killed. What I remember about it is that it was almost certainly a child's fantasy movie: The Queen was killed, and her hand was nearly crushed or severed, or actually was in either case, while trapped in a tube. The tube...
