Unfit parent, had a psychotic break
The other parent is suffering from delusions after having a psychotic break. The parent was in a psychiatric hospital, but was released because of Washington State law on involuntary incarceration (not suicidal nor homicidal, nor vegetative state). The parent had a prescription for anti-psychotic medication, but now refuses to take it and refuses to go to counseling. The parent believes that the Internet and TV directly relate to them and their life, that the Internet/TV people are telling them what to do.

The above is not a question from me, but in my search to find answers for my brother, I came across this. His wife has been released after 5 days due to California state law and she is drinking beer with her anti-psychotic meds and generally resistant to acknowledge any incident. She believed the TV was telling her things, and she told my brother that the 2 children (daughter 3 and son 6 months) were possessed and she shook her daughter and constricted her son by squeezing him. My question is: what steps can we take and what kind of documentation can we gather if my brother needs to go to court for custody?
My mother has flown across the country and lost her job to be there to care for her grandchildren and our sister in law is making things even more difficult now that she is back at home.

    Thank you for your time,
    Nancy
