How to deal with elvation/grading issue
I am trying to install a drain system that will catch all the water on my back patio from flooding. So far so good. Except that I can't get to a lower elevation any where on my property from where I started. I have clay soil and a recent rain storm gave me my answer on what will happen if I finish this thing below ground. I need to defy gravity somehow by getting the water to surface level. Recommondation, opinions?

Sounds like you need a sump pump. Install a yard drain next to patio. Install a gravity drain to a convenient location next to house. Dig a hole and install sump crock and sump pump. Install electrical outlet with weather proof cover. Pipe from sump pump to a discharge point.
