I can't be crazy... can I?
I've lived in my Apartment for 6.5 years now, My mom, daughter and nephew all have seen a mans shadow in my kitchen on separate occasions when I first moved in. Within the past year in a half I've experienced some weird things, but nothing too frightening. I used to have this floor lamp and one night me and my friend were standing on the other side of the room and the light just turned off when I walked over to turn the light back on it came on by it self but that's as serious as it really gets. In December 2010 my Dad committed suicide. Me and my dad were not on talking terms since January of 2010. Somehow the cemetery had misplaced the paper work and so my Dads URN was at my apartment from January till March, During that time I noticed an increase of activity Still nothing to frightening. Loud unexplained crashes in the middle of the night that would wake everyone in the apartment up, and yet either of my neighbors on the sides or below me heard it. Once my daughter was getting ready for school, I was at work and she was in my room the lamps on my headboard and mirror were flickering on and off. After March I haven't noticed a whole lot of movement in the apartment, Until about 2 months ago. My daughters 12 now and her night terrors have came back, every night. There is this One spot on the floor that creaks really loud right out side my bedroom door when you walk over it. Whenever I'm in my room that's all you can hear is that floor creaking, when I'm home alone I leave the door open and still hear it. Tonight I'm sitting on the couch sorting bills and the lamp on the table is on. I hear the clicking of it and it turns off. Things dropping all night long. Is something or someone trying to let me know they are there and if so who and why? I feel like I'm losing my mind and am going crazy. Could it be that I still have some of my dads ashes in a keepsake urn in my room that could be the reasoning for all of this?

I could explain the flickering lights and creaky floors easily (loose wiring and expanding/contracting wood at night when temps change). What you don't seem to be considering is your father's suicide. Why he ended his life, how it affected you, how it affected everyone. Please tell us. Some people want the paranormal to give meaning to such events, but since you are worried about going crazy, I would want to look at my emotions if I were you.

Crazy is really a strong word... and we use it way too often. No, you are not crazy. The lighting issue can be either a physical electrical fault or paranormal... though I lean to the paranormal since you heard the light physically click. Most of the time these things start small and over time get bigger. It's a way for the spirit to ease it's way into your home/lives. Your dad's suicide may have some to do with it... as spirits tend to linger around places and situations that have had tragedy strike. I could go into a lot of detail about this but I don't think now is the time. As far as why and how spirits manifest in the way they do... it's most likely to let you know it is there. You had some of these problems BEFORE the ashes came in so I wouldn't say that is what caused this. You said your daughter had terrors before... was this in a different apartment or just several years ago in the same place? Again, don't worry, you're not going crazy... these things happen, and if you read through this forum you'll see it happens to a lot of people in a lot of different ways. Hang in there and we can find you some help.

Now that your dad has passed over, he possibly wants to communicate with you. I imagine you want to say some things to him too. It's not too late. Relax, take a deep breath and tell your dad whatever is on your mind and in your heart. Be honest with him and especially yourself. After you have "cleansed your soul" so to speak, tell the energy to "go to the light" that it's not welcome in your home. Tell ALL the energies in your home that it's time for them to leave. You are the one holding the power - not anyone or anything else.
Your daughter may be picking up on your energy and fears so you can address the issues and clear the air. Talk with her and see if she has anything going on, like hearing or seeing things and too afraid to mention it. Remind her that she is also in charge of her life and she can tell anything bothering her to get lost.
If needed, sage your house to cleanse it of all negative energy but most of all - take charge, be powerful and teach your daughter to do the same!

No the night terrors started about 2 years after we moved in. They stopped for a while and then about a year ago started up only more frequent. My daughter tells me she hears things all the time when I ask her what she just kind of says noises.

I would be very protective of your child. Children are targeted more often that adults because they are so open and easy to get to. This is no "gift" she has... it is simply a spirit trying to make contact. Forbid it to do so with you and your daughter. Don't let this thing get a bigger foothold in your life than it already has.

The thing is I don't feel threatened in any way my child on the other hand is freak out of her mind she doesn't even want to stay here anymore, although I can't afford to move and nothing terribly freighting is happing I don't know what to think anymore.

Harm from a spirit can come in many different packages. Just because it does not physically threaten you does not mean it is not dangerous. They have many agendas and doctrines... that is why it is best to have it gone altogether.
