What is the average cost for a diagnostic in main sewer line from house to street?
I had a diagnostic done that was suggested because of line blockage by this sewer company and they charged me $485.38. It took him about 15 minutes. That was all he did. He didn't try to snake the line or anything.

    Hi Garlou

Can you tell us if he found anything or any issues down the drain line?

Can you also tell us how far he ran the camera down the drain?

Finally, can you tell us what he quoted you before he started the job?

    Back to you...

He said what he could see was a lot of mud at the break area and that the break itself was preventing the snake to go through.

He said that he went down about 4ft. I believe, or he said they would have to dig approx 4ft. I'm not sure.

He quoted me the same amount that he charged me. He originally quoted me $1155.29 to rod the main line from outside clean out toward house and city main or $485.38 dianostic charge to determine break in over head sewer

    Hi again...

It sounds like the main drain pipe is broken. If possible, you should have been watching the guy as he did the work so you could watch the TV monitor with him as he pushed the camera down the drain line.

A DVD (or older drain cameras may still use VHS tape) should have been provided to you showing you exactly what the issue is and EXACTLY how far from the home the issue is so you can ACCURATELY locate it and dig the main drain pipe up for repairs.

Most likely the guy was suggesting the issue with the drain pipe was 4 feet down. I am quite sure that he pushed the camera further down the drain than that... right?

Call the guy back and find out:

    1) where your DVD is
    2) what distance the break is from the home
    3) why he didn't go through the DVD showing you the issues so you could understand them.

Let me know what you think, OK?
