Recent Driving school Grad who can't get a job because of MVR with a reckless?
My problem is that I'm a recent graduate of Diesel driving academy and no one will hire me because of a reckless I got in 07/2008. That is the date that I was stopped now my MVR says that 08/2009 is the conviction date( I guess when I paid my fees to the court). This was done through an attorney because I was not in the area at the time. I tried to have it expunged but the great state of Ohio doesn't permit it. Who will give me a chance?

I'm sorry, but the company that hires you also has to be able to insure you. A commercial trucking company will have a VERY hard time insuring a driver with a reckless driving conviction, and as a result, finding employment in that field will be VERY difficult. Your school should have told you that up front.

Yes, the academy does help as much as they can. They do have lifetime job placement. But its not helping me in my situation. Perhaps in a couple of years when these charges are 5 yrs. Or more I'll give them a call. In the mean time I need work so I guess I'll keep searching.

The bar is set much higher for commercial drivers. Your company would be potentially liable for any damage a driver causes and because of this, they are very strict about the driving record requirements. If they have the choice between two drivers and one had a violation, the choice is clear. Again, I believe that your school should have been upfront about your potential for employment upon graduation. I wish you the best of luck!
