Dear Sir,

Assalamu Alaikum. I'm Md Mostafizur Rahman. We know that there are 6666 verses in the Holy Quran. From the childhood we learned that. In the Islamic quiz competition the question is frequently asked and answer shows 6666. Even in the preface (not part of the Quran) of the Holy Quran it says that there are 6666 verses.

But recently I counted in various prints (Bangladeshi print, Saudi print and Internet versions) and every where found there total 6236 verses. Basing on that I have following queries:

1. Actually how many verses there in the Holy Quran?
2. If it is 6666 then where are the rest of the verses (Since I got 6236 verses after counting)?
3. If it is 6236 then how the concept of 6666 came up and inserted in the heart of Muslims for last 1400 years?
4. If it is propaganda by non Muslims then what our Islamic scholars have done so far in last 1400 years to counter that?
5. Finally, is it not funny that as Muslim we never counted it and we relied on false information? In front of non Muslims how do we stand on the point - no change/addition/deletion took place/will not take place in the Holy Quran?
