How to stay with your foster family
I am a 15 years old and live in virginia. I have been placed in several foster home. My mother is a repeat offender. Twice she was charged with selling drugs. She will be released in a month. I was told by social services that I cannot live with my foster parents. They treat me and my 6 year old brother well. I don't want to live with her and move to a new school in the middle of the school year. I am afraid of my mother bringing another drug user/seller into my life again. What can I do so I can stay with my present foster family. IS there someone that I can contact to help me with this matter. Please help!

You need to talk to your case worker. That person is the only one who can help you.

All she would say " we are to reunite family" . She does not care what I have to say.

Then ask to speak to her supervisor. Are your foster parents willing to have you stay?

I am sorry but often the child in these cases has little to say about things, and yes, it often deals with the rights of parents, not the desires of children.

However you still have time. Your mom has to get out of jail, get a place to live, get a job and take classes. She has to show she can take care of you. This will take time and as a foster mother myself. Many time they don't follow what they need to do with in the time. A note to that. I had a child in my home that wanted us to adopted him. He wrote a letter to his mother as we said we would adopted and he asked his mother to give up her rights. AND SHE DID. There is hope but there is a chance that Mom could get you back also. Your 15 so if you did go back to your mom by the time she did everything she needed to do. You will be close to being 18 years old.
