    Electric Range
I just purchased a GE range from Lowe's. My son tells me Lowe's does not furnish a power cord.
This GE replaces a 1997 Westinghouse model. My son tells me the new ranges have four connectors.
Coming from the back of the range. I know where you plug it in to the wall it is a three prong outlet.

I sure hope I am not going to have a problem?

I am thinking this new GE may have Red-Hot Black-Hot White- neutral Green-ground
Terminals. The plug itself is three prong and the wall receptacle remains the same?

    Hope I am correct?

First, I'd look in the wall box, sometimes there is a ground wire but it is connected to the wall box. However, if you decide to keep the old range circuit wiring and 3-prong outlet you must change the cord on the new appliance from 4-prong to 3-prong. Then you must connect the frame of the new range either to the existing separate ground wire, if there is one - it is either green-sheathed or bare copper - or, if there is no existing separate ground wire, you must ensure that the frame of the new range is connected to the neutral line by using an internal frame-to-neutral tie strap. Some of the installation manuals show how to hook it up.
