    Dunkirk PWB 40 pilot?
    Hi,

I have the above boiler in my house, which was installed by the previous owner, so I have no manual. The pilot has gone out, and I need to get it lit. I found a related (seemingly) manual on the Dunkirk website, but how to find the match holder isn't clear... I can't see the tops of the burners to find it. I really don't want to call someone and pay just to have the pilot lit, and I'm currently unable to take off work to be home during the day anyway. If anyone can provide me with clear instructions for this specific model, or point me to a resource online, I'd really appreciate it.

    Thank you.

I ended up needing a new valve and therocouple. But relighting the pilot is quite simple. Take off the panel so you can see the 3 burners. Be sure the furnace is off!

The pilot is attached to the middle burner. They just rest in there, so if you slide the burner in a bit, the front will drop and you can pull it out, gently. Turn the valve switch to pilot and press the button. You should hear gas flowing. Light the pilot and keep the button pressed for at least 30 seconds... the thermocouple has to heat up sufficiently or the gas will shut off.

The pilot should remain lit after you release the button. Replace the burner, close the panel, then turn the gas to On.

If the pilot went out when you released the button, try again, but hold the button down longer. If it still goes out, replace the thermocouple. It's pretty simple even if you aren't mechanically inclined, like me. If that doesn't work, call a repair service.
