New bath tub - old house on slab
My question is how to best install a bath tub in a old home on a concrete slab. The location I have is in an existing 1/2 bath with a drain for the washer in the adjacent wall to the proposed tub. Cut the slab, raise the tub, some type of pump? I'm looking for ideas that make the tub function and the installation look professional.

    Thanks,

If the existing half bath has a lavatory that's vented then take up the slab and connect the tub drain to the lavatory drain where it will be wet vented.
That way you will not have to platform the tub and your job will look as professional as it can look. If you do not connect to the lav drain you will have to run a vent on the tub. Good luck, Tom

Adding new bath to concrete slab [ 3 Answers ]

Hi, We just purchased a home in L.A. built in the 60s that has a concrete slab construction. We want to add on a master bath to the house but I don't know how we would tie into the plumbing lines in this kind of a foundation. Do they actually pour concrete onto the pipes when the foundation is...

Re:tub on the slab [ 1 Answers ]

Tom, thanks for your help. I am understanding that I would just leave the horizontal run of pipe into the 14"x14" hole and that would leave me enough room for the rest of the plumbing, correct?
