    Moving expenses for H1 visa holder
    I am from India , working in US since March '06 in US on H1B Visa.
    My Wife joined me here in US in Sept 06 on H4 Dependent VISA.
    I spend $3000(1500 for myself and 1500 for my wife) towards for air ticket from India to US to start my job in US.Can I claim my this amount as moving deduction for 2006 US TAX.
    If so do I need to filled the distance test sheet of Form 3903?

    Yes, you can claim those expenses as valid moving expenses.

    Yes, you technically need to fill out the distance test.

    But since India is about 8,000 miles distant, I do not think the distance test is an issue.
