    furnace shutting off
    I Have A Comfortmaker Furnace And It Randomly Shuts Off. I Wake Up In The Middle Of The Night And Its Not Working. It Turns Back On When I Go Down And Turn It Off And On At The Switch. Any Idea Why It Would Do That?

    I have this idea, one of the safety switches is cutting our the gas and then retrying to light and won't. After the furnaces does this a few times it will go in to the lock out mode for from one hour to three hours, by then you have gone and turned it off and back on which resets the program... So you need to find out what it causing the furnace to cut off. My first guess would be either a bad or dirty flame sensor. The flame sensor is a wire looking thing with a ceramic base that sticks up into the flame of one of the burners, it has one wire running to it. Take this off and clean it with some fine sandpaper and replace it and see if it stops the problem. If not Send more info.
