    Answer befitting such a short question: it depends.

    Age, locale, company name, do you have a lawyer? Some companies are demanding very high restitution over and above the value of what was stolen to stay out of court. It seems to be the latest technique.

    It will differ by the court, even by what nation are you from, France, US, Canada?

    Also how much "under" did you steal 4900 or 4 dollars. That will make a difference also.
