    Resident / Non Resident
I worked in Utah from Jan to March of 2006. The rest of the year I was employed in New Jersey.

Do I fill out a resident NJ form for state taxes and a non resident UT Form for state taxes in Utah?
Is there a part time residency form?

If not what forms do I need to fill out when filing state taxes?

    Thanks

    Jon

    Jon:

Next time, wait your turn and do NOT PM me to get ahead of the queue, or I will IGNORE your question!

You file returns for both states as part-year residents. This assumes you actually LIVED in both Utah and New Jersey.

You can get the needed tax forms from the tax websites for both states.

You can efile one state or the other, but not both, as you must efile your state return at the same time with your federal return.

I recommend you efile JUST the federal return, and mail both state returns with a copy of the other state attached.

Attaching the copy answers a lot of questions before they can be asked.
