    Matchng ceramic floor height with hardwood
    Hey guys,

    I will be redoing my kitchen and have the following questions. The main dining area with have 3/3" hardwood. the cooking area will be ceramic tile. I would like the two surfaces to be at the same height. i will be using the Ditra which i know adds 1/8"> but I would like to see what suggestions you guys have. Here is the math I have done but I am a 1/8" short.

    Thinset = 1/8"
    Ditra = 1/8"
    Thinset = 1/8"
    Tile = 1/4"

    total of 5/8"

    Never heard of Ditra here but hardie or durock is 1/4" and that would give you the 1/8. Other option is to thicken up the thinset, sloping it from the hardwood back. Slope of 1/8" would not be noticeable over 2-3 ft. .

    In your situation you want to use the DITRA XL... stuff is 1/4"thick and made for exactly your situation.
