    Gardens. Love em/loath them.
I have a garden trimmer. In very basic/infant terms can someone please explain the fuel ratio 50:1. I have the unleaded fuel/2-stroke oil and a jug marked with litres/mls. But 50:1 what? Buckets, bowls, cups, spoons? I was hopeless at maths and clearly with age I'm getting thicker by the day so please give me the knowledge a 5 year old can understand. For Health and Safety rules, I'm not 5. Just thought you needed to know that. Cheers.

If it's 50 to 1 it's 50 parts of this to 1 part of that. The ratio doesn't change when the AMOUNT changes. It would be 50 ounces to 1 ounce or 50 tons to 1 ton.

This is the first post I've read today, and I am laughing very hard to myself. Great writing - started MY day off with a smile.

Thanks. JudyKayTee, Wow I know this, I know my this from that and I'm happy to start your day with a giggle.
Why can't all instructions be this obvious or is it me less thick, anyway I'm off to find the bottom of my garden and by the end of my day you will be able to read this last comment the other way round, what a mess.
    Cheers.

In a 2 cycle, 50:1 refers to the gas/oil ratio. For example, if you have 1 ounce of oil, you need 50 ounces of gas. For a 1 gallon can, put in 2.5 oz of oil and fill to 1 gallon. Make sure the oil is rated for 50:1, some are, some aren't. Some are only 40:1. All newer 2 cycle equipment runs on 50:1.
