    Enema prior to every BM
    Asking for a friend:

A friend of mine, prior to every bowel movement fills a rubber syringe, the kind that looks like a blue rubber ball with a nozzle, with warm water and uses it as a an enema. She says that otherwise, it takes her hours to use the restroom for a bm. I asked her today "are you sure that's safe?" and she wasn't sure and asked me to find out. I've googled it but it keeps bringing up ads for chemical enemas and warning about those, witch obviously not the case here.

Has she talked to her doctor or a pharmacist?

I don't believe she has. I really haven't heard of her going to a doctor in a couple years

I really believe that she should go and speak to a Doctor. Or speak with the pharmacist.

I at one point bought a home enema kit for my little girl, and I remember reading that it shouldn't be used all of the time.

Now, I know that there is also a difference.

How long has your friend been doing this. Also, what does her diet consist of?

If she is having hard stools she can get Miralax over-the-counter that will help her and not be as dangerous.

I spoke with her and she said that she has tried laxatives and stool softeners and that they only make things, and I quote, "messier"
