I am trying to use Outlook as my email but can't send from Outlook
I have set up Outlook to pull my Yahoo email into it when I open Outlook. However, I cannot seem to get it to SEND emails from Outlook. I followed the instructions, but I get an error telling me that it cannot send and it may be because of my internet service provider. I use AT&T Uverse and they tell me they cannot help me. I cannot imagine I am the only one who wants to do this. Do anyone have the answer to my problem?

You need to find out what your outgoing e-mail server is. If Uverse is your ISP they should provide that info.

The setting were already like this. It just won't send. It says "the connection to the server was interrupted and if it persists to contact my ISP (which is AT&T Uverse)". They were very unhelpful.

So, you are saying that my outgoing email wouldn't be Yahoo? I am using a Yahoo email account, not a Uverser account. I have set up the outgoing the way Yahoo said to in the instructions, which was also what the other guy who responded to me here. However, since it was already set up like this, it is still not working.

When you subscribe to an ISP it provides you with an outgoing mail server. While Yahoo does also provide one, its only good when you send mail through the Yahoo site.
I have my Outlook at home set up to send mail using about a dozen different e-mail accounts. For ALL those accounts, I use my ISP's outgoing mail server.
P.S. for future reference please use the Answer options to post follow up info or questions, not Comments.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did change the outgoing server to be the one that Uverse has on it's site. However, it didn't work and gave me the same error. I know this may sound crazy, but on the two lines that are under "log on information", am I supposed to use my Yahoo or Uverse logon? Currently, it has my Yahoo because I am pulling my Yahoo email. I thought if I changed it to the Uverse logon it would mess up my receiving. Thanks for your help!

Okay... I tried what you suggested and even tried changing the logon information under the outgoing email section to match my Uverse logon. So I feel like I am back to square one... arrrggghhh. This doesn't make sense that you have several accounts going into Outlook and I can't get one to work! ;-(

Have you contacted Uverse for support? I am 99% sure, that your outgoing mail server should be your ISPs. Yahoo is just an online mail service, not an ISP.

I have worked for AT&T in the past. So I guess they have not changed the settings.
Im taking outlook 2007 as example.
1.Tools > Account settings > go to "change" after highlighting your account
In this pop-up, incoming server information would be yahoo's
Outgoing mail server(smtp) should be "smtp.att.yahoo.com"
2. more settings > outgoing server (tab)
Here, make sure "My outgoing server requires authentication" is checked.
Then, select the radio button "logon using"
Username - your at&t email address (complete email)
Password - at&t email password
3.Not over yet, then go to the tab advanced -
Outgoing port - 465, SSL encryption required.
So this mean, you are using at&t's server to send email. They did this around 2006-7 to prevent spams.
In case if this doesnot work, can you provide the error message?

BK01,
Thanks. I had everything in exactly as you noted. This at least confirms that I am not an idiot! ;-) I have attached the error in a pdf. This has consistently been the error all along. I did contact UVerse and they were not helpful.

ScottGem,
I got onto Uverse website and it told me to put in exactly what BK01 had just suggested (plus another suggested item (which I tried), but when looking specifically for Outlook 2007 it was what BK01 said). I have called them and they are unhelpful after I have wait FOREVER on the phone. I am just clueless why this is so difficult. I'm not a computer geek, but I can usually figure things out. This has really stumped me.

How do you connect to Uverse? Is it a broadband connection or something else?
