I have searched and can not find this painting. I have even contacted the Getty and asked and they were less than helpful.

All I have is my memory so I will try to give the best description I can.

The painting was housed in the Getty back when the entire collection was held in the Malibu villa. The year would have been 1996.

The painting was approximately 4 feet wide by 6 feet tall.

It was oil on canvas.

I think it was a Renaissance artwork area but I am not sure.

The subject matter was unassuming. It was a few men around a table. One or two were sitting while the rest were standing. Why this painting has stuck in my head all this time is because the only light source was from a singular candle on the table so all you could really see were hidden shadows of faces and figures, otherwise the room was in total darkness.

The use of light and shadow touched me so greatly that I would just stand in front of it for hours at a time but I was a fool and never wrote down the title or painter nor even bothered to look at the name plate on the wall.

I am not sure if this description helps but if anyone has even the slightest idea about what this painting could be then I would be very grateful. I have scoured the Getty collection and it is not there.
