Possible reasons a bathtub would leak from the bottom?
I have a leak from a bathtub in a rental unit. Our tenant said she noticed it in the morning when she walked into the bathroom. No one had used the tub yet. What could be leaking if water wasn't running? She said she remembers a few years ago someone came out and re-sealed the tub.. however we don't want to seal anything if there is unnecessary water coming from somewhere. What do you suggest?

Could it be from the toilet? Vanity? Possible leak in the tub fittings in the wall? It can only come from underneath or the wall if it's the tub. Is this a slab house?

OK! Before we can help we need a little more information.
What kind of tub. Cast iron, steel or plastic. Have you ran water in the tub and it sit for a few hours to check the drain seal? If on the 2nd. Floor have you opened up the ceiling to check the trap for leaking? Does your =tenant use the tub as a shower or a tub? Get back to us and we'll get back to you. Good luck, Tom

The tub is cast iron and it is on the second floor. I will tell her to run the water and let it sit. I will get back to you soon!
    Thanks

I need to know if she uses the tub for a shower or tub bath? Could this be a tile grout problem? Let me know if the water level in the tub drops overnight. Tom
