    Honeywell rlv430 installation help connecting to 8 wires coming from wall
    The honeywell instruction are for two or 4 wire connection but I have 8 wires coming from wall (3 black, 1 white, 1 red, 1 orange, 1 yellow, 1 green). Can you help?

    Start at the other end of the cable and see what is connect there.

    Also, if you can send pictures of both ends and the schematic for the wiring we may be able to assist you better.

    The cable has at least two connection points. One where you are adding the Honey Well device and at the other end. The passage through the walls doesn't really matter. It's the connections at the equipment being controlled.

    Are you referring to the Heat Pump, blower, Condenser, etc?

    Okay, I just took a look at the instruction sheet.

    A two wire connection is the A/C Connection. According to the installation instructions, it does not matter which how you connect the wires because they are not a "Polarized" connection.

    So, I would use the simplest method, the two wire. I would connect the Black from the device box to the black from the thermostat. And the White from the device box to the other black from the thermostat.

    Does that mean all the other colored wires don't need to be connected to anything?

    According to the instructions, unused wires are tucked back inside of the device box.

    The three black wires coming out of the device box concern me.

    If you have a meter, set it on A/C and then check for < probably 24 to 27 Volta, AC.

    To do this, take the black meter probe and connect it to the white wire. Using the red probe, touch each of the black wires to see which ones are live. If ony one is live, that the one you conect to the black from the thermostat. If noe are live, make sure the circuit breaker is on. If more than one is active, you will need to call Honeywell for assistance.

    This is a line voltage baseboard thermostat. What is it you are trying to contro with it? Basboard heat should have 2 or 4 wires at most.

Honeywell RLV430 thermostat leaving burn marks on wall [ 3 Answers ]

I have two RLV430 thermostats, one in each of two bathrooms, running electric baseboard heat. Both have one inch to two inches of black marks on the walls above the right side, control pad; almost as if something had or is slowly burniing. Suggestions?
