    Is everything getting smaller?
The peanut butter and mayo jars have bottoms that bulge up, so there's less stuff inside the jar for the same or higher price. The chips bags are mostly air ("so the chips aren't crushed during transport"). And I just ate an ice cream "drumstick" that was probably half the size it used to be two years ago when I had my last one.

Or maybe the manufacturers are trying to help us in some way?

No, they just make me feel fat by eating 2 instead of 1.

Less materials for the same price. You're not dreaming, they've been doing it slowly for the past 15 years.

The food manufacturers have been chitzing on the actual product for quite a long time. What better way to sort of keep the price the same by gyping the consumer out of the actual product. Candy bars shrank out of this world but oddly the price got jacked up. Even Walmart charges $1 for a candy bar that used to cost 50 cents if you buy a single bar.

In part this is why things are going up. Almost everything has sugar in it.

P.S. unless you like strange tastes don't eat the "mini" drumsticks that have carmel in them. Yuck!!

Shazzy, I just opened a box of Kraft Dinner for E and I, I was shocked to see how small they got! Now, for an adult and a toddler, I need to open 2 boxes :o

Mmmm Mac and Cheese. I graduated from Kraft to homemade baked mac n cheese. Well... until I stopped eating processed food, that is.

I haven't noticed things getting smaller, but my time as a consumer is pretty short still-only 10 or less years :)

When I grow up and get a more permanent residence, I plan on growing a lot of my food and relying on farmer's markets for the rest.

Maybe we, as consumers, can send a message by choosing not to purchase products that are skimping out on the goods!

Since I didn't put my 2 cents in yet... yeah things are getting smaller... because even if you notice... its less objectionable than higher prices are for the same old size... and with costs going up... something has to give someplace.

And yeah... its been said before.
