Small 2yr old dog poss consumed small beads designed to expand in water
I believe my 11lbs chihuahua consumed roughly three to five very small beads that are a children's toy called orbeez that my daughter was playing with earlier today. She told my husband that she saw the dog eat one and once we cleaned them up there were easily 30 of them spilt. Orbeez are an extremely small bead shaped toy that after soaking in water each one expands to the size of a marble. I noticed she was not her normal self several hours ago but not enough to worry me. We decided to take her for a walk and she was her normal self. As soon as we returned she began to loose her motor skills, basically how a person would if they consumed too much alcohol, her head bobbling back and forth and her body swaying and almost falling over. Her gum color is very pink still, her blink reflex is good, and there is no diarrhea or vomiting yet. I have squirted water in her mouth twice with a small syringe about 30 minutes apart concerned about dehydration since she had just finished a walk. I am aware that they are non-toxic to both children and pets, and she has stayed the same, not improving or getting worse than when we first returned. It is a holiday weekend and the vet is closed, What can I do to help her or is this something completely different going on? There is nothing else that I am aware of that she could have gotten into today.
