This is the breakdown of the different types of bonds:
A Performance bond is a guarantee that you will do your work as stated in the contract. A Bid bond is a guarantee you will perform the work that you bid on. An Indemnity bond says that you will promise to reimburse any loss that would happen if you don't do the job, a License bond is a specialty bond that is required by some states. This is where you pay the state directly rather than obtaining a bond and a Payment bond says you promise to pay all subcontractors and material providers utilized in the performance of a contract.

I would say you would need a performance bond, or a bond that states you are without any previous fraudulent convictions.

I would say that you don't even need a bond, I can't image a customer wanting a bond, you do need several types of insurance. The idea of bonding is so very mistaken that all businesses need to be

Well, I am bonded by my healthcare provider because I visit client's homes; this assures by employer that I do not have a criminal record (by visiting the police station every year for a search that cost me $25). By so doing, they are assured that I am trustworthy to go into clients' homes.

I am assuming that is why it was suggested to OP if she has to babysit pets in a client's home for any period.

Of course, this is in Canada; I don't know how this is carried out in the States; do you not have healthcare people providing care to others in their own homes?
