    Second floor jacuzzi tub installation.
I am installing a jacuzzi whirlpool tub on a second floor bathroom (not including the basement). The beams used in the floor are Georgia Pacific wood I beams, they are 9.5 inches deep and span 12'. They are spaced out 24" on center. Will this floor need extra bracing? The tub weighs 190 lbs empty, has a 120 gallon capacity and 2 people will be in it.

OK that just over 1000 lbs of water plus 2 people and the tub brings it in around 1500 lbs. Quite a bit of weight in one area but do you know if your beams are LVL or not? Georgia-Pacific Wood I Beam Joists

24" centers is really pushing possbility. Personally, I would try to insert or sister other joisting at 16". Hate to see this in the Living Room. I would also install 1 piece of 3/4" ply under the tub to help spread the weight.

I have a new home with roughed in plumbing in the basement for a bathroom. I have purchased a fiberglass jacuzzi style tub. Besides framing, the manufacturer recommends some type of base to set the tub on, on top of the concrete floor, but is very nonspecific about what this material should be. The...
