    Ceiling Fan & wall Switch
    I am putting in a ceiling fan and wall switch. I have power (black, white, groung) to ceiling box. Running wire to a wall box is not a problem. I would like a wiring diagram to wire this properly.

    Here you go:
    <http://www.indepthinfo.com/wire-switch/light-switch.shtml>

    I know it shows a light fixture instead of a ceiling fan, but the wiring will be the same.

    1. Run a new romex cable (black, white, ground) to your light switch box from the ceiling box.
    2. Connect the black wire from your SOURCE wire to the WHITE wire of the cable going to the switch box.
    3. Attach the other black wire to the black wire from the fan.
    4. Attach the other white wire to the white wire of the fan.
    5. Connect all of your grounds.
    Now for the switch:
    6. Connect the white wire to one brass screw terminal on the switch, and connect the black to the other. You should wrap a piece of black electric tape around the white wire near the switch so that it is known that the white wire is hot as well.
    7. Connect the ground to the switch.
    Hope this helped.

    Kyle_in_rure is correct if you want to only control the light from the wall switch. If you want to control both the light and the fan from the wall switch you need to run 3-wire cable to the switch.
