    Brown water AND rust buildup
We have well water and have serious rust buildup in our bathtub and sink. It seems to be more when we use hot water. When we leave for vacation and come back there is a big rust stain in the tub where the faucet slowly dripped a little. I have to use a whole bottle of The Works to clean the bathtub once every other week! The walls and shower curtain get stained too. My husband has flushed our tank - is this our water or the hot water heater... Please help! I can't handle it anymore I just want regular water!

    Hi Emily...

At this time, with the info. Provided, I'm thinking that your water heater is breaking down as a result of the ANODE ROD failing (or being used up) and your water heater will need to be replaced pretty quick off.

To test this, take a couple tall, clear glass containers and fill one with cold water and the other with very hot water from the taps. Immediately after each container is filled, take it outside and put it up in the sun and see what you can see. Most likely, you'll find the hot water is filled with more "stuff" and has a rusty color. If hot water is dirty, but cold water is clear then your hot water heater is on its way out.

Try this and let me know what you discover, OK?
