    I have a featherlite xt260 that only runs with the choke between half and fully close
    The featherlite only runs with the choke set between half and fully closed.

    You probably have an air leak in the carburetor, so you have to choke it to get the fuel mixture rich enough to run. I suggest you rebuild the carburetor, or have it rebuilt, or replace it. Make sure all the fasteners are tight enough to stop any air leaks.

    If you have the ability to repair it yourself . Sounds like it needs a good carb cleaning or a carb kit put in it .
    If you have to take it some where and have it done , its probably cheaper to buy a new one, Luck
