My wife and I recently bought a Frigidaire Gallery (Model LGUB2642LF2) & a water line kit for the icemaker/water dispenser. We have a 1/4" copper tube connecting a cold water pipe to our fridge.

Initially installing the line met with some difficulty in that I over-tightened the compression nut and caused a small leak. However, before I noticed the leak I had a chance to test the water dispenser and find that it worked fine.

After discovering the leak, I reattached the copper tubing properly and now have no leaks at all, but my water dispenser no longer produces any water. I can still hear the hum of a motor when I press the dispenser lever, but it's as if no water is getting to it anymore.

I have already checked the cold water pipe and know that it's not blocked, nor is the tubing blocked at all. The hookup from the water pipe to the tubing is a saddle valve and I've ensured that this is turned on as well. (It's of note that when opening the saddle valve, I no longer hear the sound of water flow as I once did.)

Is this an issue with the saddle valve? Could it be a fridge issue? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Is the icemaker working? If so the problem is in the water dispenser or the solenoid valve for the water dispenser. If icemaker does not work, close the saddle valve completely then reopen. If that doesn't solve the problem loosen the supply tubing at the solenoid valve, see if you have water there. If not, you have a blocked supply line. If you have water on the supply side loosen the tubing on the refrigerator side. Press the dispenser lever. You should get water out. If you get water out of the valve the problem is in the water dispenser.

Don't think you should hear a hum, there should not be a motor involve. What you are hearing is probably the solenoid valve and you shouldn't hear that. Possible bad electrical connection. Check that first.

Unhook the line from the refrigerator and open saddle valve. If no water flows you have found your problem. Sometimes you need to drill a 1/8" hole where saddle valve taps into water line to get enough water. Really, it is better to have a T-connecter to hook water line into rather than a saddle valve. Just a small piece of trash or lime scale will stop up a saddle valve and water flow is unreliable all the time. A T-connector is very easy to install on water supply lines, so I would suggest you get one. DrTom4444

Looks like it was the saddle valve as you suggested. I plan on installing a t-connector + ball valve to try and fix the issue. Thanks for the input.

Thank you very much for the inpute, HK. I went with Tom's advice first because it was the simplest to check and it turns out the saddle valve is the issue. Again, I appreciate your time and efforts.

Thanks for the feed back. Too often we don't get hear from the original poster so we don' know what happened. Closing and the opening the saddle valve should have cleared it if it was just a blocked valve. Doesn't matter who's advise or suggestion you try first, only thing that matters is that you successfully solve the problem.
