Cast iron tub installation over tile, how?
    Hello,

I am interested in placing travertine high gloss ceramic tile under an existing clawfoot cast iron tub. The old tile has been pulled up. My question is about whether this or any other ceramic tile can hold the weight of the tub without the tiles cracking. The tile must be able to hold the weight of tub and water.

The floor needs to be reinforced due to an earlier attempt at tiling it. Should fiberous cement board be installed and will that help with the weight on the tile?

I am a true "nubbie" and don't know if I am even asking the correct questions. Thanks for your understanding, consideration, and courtesy in addressing this topic.
