    Theft under 5000$ from HBC
A friend was caught for shoplifting 110$ worth from HBC, simply because friends insisted its "easy" and I was there for accomplis, to the theft, where we were "arrested" for theft under 5000, damage to property, and acomplis for myself. The cops were called, but no charges were laid. We got banned from the mall and all HBC's in Ontario. They said in 4-6 weeks we will receive a letter to pay 500$ + damage costs for their time and watching the cameras. They said if we don't pay, they will sue and take us to civil court, and we will have to finger print, the cops did not say too much. We are also 20 and 21 year old university students. Any advice? Do we pay the civil recovery funds? Or will we acutally get sued?
Yes, this was extremely stupid on our part.
