How reliable are home pregnancy tests?
I did a lot of research on this and I still can't seem to get an answer.
I have been late for over two months now and I have taken home pregnancy tests throughout the two months. The pregnancy hormone would definitely be in my urine by now. Am I right?
I haven't had any symptoms of being pregnant but I also haven't had any symptoms of an upcoming period either!
Just before I was expecting my period two months ago, my doctor prescribed the pill and she said "take it on the first day of your period", but it never came so the pills are in my draw, untouched!
Help. I really don't know what to do.

You are right. A urine test with today's OTC testing method is very reliable... presuming you are using a brand name test from a reputable supplier.
You haven't told us what your test result was. Does it say yes or no?

I have used the First Response pregnancy tests for all my tests and they were all negative. All five or six of them. I've started to lose count!
I have been under stress, but it's only minimal, nothing major.
I'm 16 years old, by the way and I've always had regular periods - hardly ever that I had been late of what I remember and I keep a regular diary of my periods, too.

It's negative. Like I said in my second reply.
And my question is, if I haven't had my period for over 2 months, and all pregnancy tests say its negative, how reliable are they? Because I've used them during different times of day and not on the same day...

I apologize. I guess my fingers were working faster than my brain on that one.
First Response is a reliable pregnancy test. It is one of the top rated tests on a variety of review and feedback sites.

These test are very reliable, but if you are missing your period then go see your doctor.
Since you are 16, was this your first time engaging in sexual intercourse? It could very well be the fear of pregnancy is causing enough stress to interfere with your period.

My first partner, yes. But it wasn't the first time we have had sexual intercourse.
I bought another one, do you think I could do it now - in the afternoon - or should I wait for first thing in the morning urine? Does it differ on reliability?
I've missed two periods, but every now and then I get cramps as though I'm just about to come on my period, but I go to the toilet and check myself and I don't see any blood appearing. My nipples are a little tender and sore, but my breasts are fine and I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms.

Follow the instructions for the test.
But the question becomes, if you are concerned about getting pregnant, why are you engaging in sexual intercourse?

Best time to take the test is first thing in the morning using first morning urine.

Do all home pregnancy tests work the same? I bought First Response, I am 1 day late with my period but the test came back negative, I'm just curious if I could still be pregnant or maybe try and use another brand that's better, any thoughts?
