Employer calling my dr office to verify treatment.
I was off wrk due to a spider bite that made me very ill. Reported to workcare with my dr's excuse and was released to return to work. Worked 3 days and was terminated. Employer said they checked with my dr. to see if i had actually been seen. I feel someone violated my hippa rights. If there was a question or doubt, workare never should have allowed me to return to work.

Its possible that your doctor violated HIPAA if they revealed any information to your employer without your permission. If so, then the doctor could be subject to action by the agency that oversees HIPAA.

But what may have happened is the doctor refused to provide ANY information either confirming or denying that you had been seen. On the other hand, the doctor wrote a note presumably to your employer. This could have been considered tacit permission to confirm the info.

You say they tried to confirm, did they say the doctor didn't confirm and that's why you were terminated? What is "workcare"? You really aren't very clear about what exactly happened.

Calling the employer after sending the resume? [ 15 Answers ]

Would you recommend calling the employer after you've sent a resume? I kind of go both ways on this, on one hand I don't want to seem pushy but on the other I want them to know I'm interested. If so can you provide and example of what you should say? Thanks for any ideas for suggestions.
