A divroced cop in miami as the weather turns very cold and freezes. He goes to his exwifes home with her husband and the child he had with her. Surprising the house has a back up generator and it stops running. As they head south they go to the police station to pick-up a different vehicle, he free the prisoners in jail. One desides to tag along with them. But he must check on his sister first. They are travelling through a billzard and hit a man with a brief case. Unknown to the others he has a pass to get on a ship to leave at a appointed time and place. They run into a army helicopter crew who crashed near them and they try to steal their vehicle. They escape and wind up breaking down a few mile from the pick-up point. The cop is injured and stays behind so they can send someone back for him. They meet the ship and go back and get him still alive.
